The Esoteric Significance of friday

In Western esotericism, Friday holds a unique cosmic significance rooted in its planetary and spiritual correspondences. Each of the seven days is governed by one of the seven classical planets, and Friday’s character is shaped by its ruler, Venus.

Planetary and Spiritual Rulership

Planetary Ruler: Venus. Governed by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, Friday is a day of pleasure, romance, and friendship. It is also linked to the material realm and is considered a good time for self-care, artistic pursuits, and relaxing.
Angelic Ruler: Anael. In addition to its planetary ruler, each day is presided over by a specific Archangel, considered a “higher class of celestial intelligence”. The Archangel associated with Friday is Anael.
Zodiacal Signs: Taurus, Libra. The zodiacal signs corresponding to Friday’s planetary ruler, Venus, are Taurus and Libra.

The System of Planetary Hours

The esoteric system of planetary rulership extends to the hours of the day. The first hour of Friday is ruled by Venus and the Archangel Anael. Subsequent hours follow the “Chaldean order” of the planets, which arranges them from slowest to fastest based on their apparent speed: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon. This intricate system provides a powerful framework for magical practice.

Planetary Intelligences and Spirits

Drawing from the grimoire tradition, The Magus distinguishes between different orders of spirits associated with each planet.

Their domain is love, beauty, and friendship. Venusian invocations are used for forming friendships, creating peace between people, and for pleasure and joyous undertakings.
