Monday’s Magical Invocations of Angels 😇 & Demons 😈

Hi, fellow student of the occult!

The system presented in texts like The Magus details precise astrological and spiritual requirements. These are necessary for performing operations on Monday. This day is characterized by the influence of the Moon.

Here is a comprehensive summary of the considerations and conjurations for Monday, or the second day of the week.

Considerations for Monday: The Dominion of the Moon

Monday is governed by the Moon (Luna), which is associated with moisture, change, visions, and generation. It is also the second day of the week.

1. Ruling Spirits and Hierarchy

Monday is ruled by an intricate hierarchy of angels and spirits:

  • Primary Ruling Angels (Angels of Monday): Gabriel, Michael, and Samael. Gabriel is specifically identified as the chief ruler of Monday.
  • Angelic Ruler (Archangel): Gabriel (the Moon’s Archangelic Ruler). Gabriel is also listed as the angel set over the Moon by the ancient Fathers of the Hebrews.
  • Angel of the First Heaven: Monday is associated with the first heaven.
  • Angels of the Air: The ruling King of the Air is Arcan (or Harkam). His ministers are Bilet, Missabu, and Abuhaza (or Abinzaba, Mylu, Acuteba).
  • Wind: These spirits are subject to the West-winde, which is known as the wind of the Moon.
  • Angels of the First Heaven (Called from the Four Parts of the World):
    • East: Gabriel, Gabrael, Madiel, Deamiel, and Janael (or Janak).
    • West: Sachiel, Zaniel, Habaiel (or Habiel), Bachanael (or Bachanæ), and Corabael.
    • North: Mael, Vuael (or Uvael), Valnum, Baliel, Balay, and Humastrau.
    • South: Curaniel, Dabriel, Darquiel, Hanun, Anayl, and Vetuel.

2. Operational Purposes (Nature of the Spirits)

The nature of the Moon’s spirits aligns with the fluid and mutable attributes of the planet. Their powers include:

  • To give silver.
  • To convey things from place to place.
  • To make horses swift.
  • To disclose the secrets of persons both present and future.
  • To grant power over emotions, intuition, family, home life, healing, divination, and developing psychic abilities.
  • Demonic Operations: The demonic spirit Lucifer is designated as the “Demon of Monday” and may be conjured at night between eleven and twelve, or between three and four. The operation requires the conjurer to wear a new stole and surplice and offer a live mouse as a pledge, ideally done at dawn on Monday.

3. Appearance and Signs of Lunar Spirits

The forms and manifestations of the Moon’s spirits reflect their cold, moist, and changeable nature:

  • Appearance and Body: They appear generally of a great and full stature, described as soft and phlegmatic.
  • Color: Like a dark and obscure cloud.
  • Countenance and Features: They have a swollen countenance, eyes red and full of water, a bald head, and teeth like a wild boar. Their forehead may be long.
  • Motion and Sign: Their motion is like an exceeding great tempest of the sea or a mighty sea storm. The sign of their visibility is the appearance of great rains (or a huge rainstorm appearing near the circle).
  • Familiar Shapes: They may manifest as:
    • A king, like an archer, riding upon a doe (or fallow).
    • A little boy or a little child.
    • A woman-hunter with a bow and arrows.
    • A cow.
    • A little doe or a goose.
    • A green or silver-coloured garment.
    • An arrow or a creature with many feet (millipede).

4. Appropriate Timing and Preparation

  • Planetary Hours: Operations should be observed in the first and eighth hours of the day, and the third and tenth hours of the night. The first hour of Monday is ruled by Gabriel (Moon).
  • Specific Angelic Invocations: Spirits of the Moon are to be invoked on a Monday at Daybreak.
  • Demonic Operations: If invoking the demon Lucifer, the experience is commonly performed between eleven and twelve o’clock at night, or between three and four. One source notes the specific times requested by Lucifuge Rofocale on Monday are nine o’clock and at midnight or ten o’clock and at midnight.
  • Fumigation: The appropriate perfume for Monday is Aloes, or “the leaf of a bean, frankincense, and myrrh”. A perfume consisting of mint, frankincense, wormwood, sage, sandalwood, storax, and musk should always be made on Monday, in the Moon’s hour.
  • Lunar Phasing: Operations must be aligned with a waxing moon. The moon’s age should be 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 14 days old.

The Conjuration of Monday

The conjuration for Monday confirms the angels using powerful divine names, particularly referencing the Moon’s role in the creation myth (the second day):

  • Invocation of Divine Names: The operator conjures and confirms the angels “in the name Adonai, Adonai, Adonai, Eye, Eye, Eye; Cados, Cados, Cados, Achim, Achim, Ja, Ja, strong Ja“.
  • Reference to Creation: The prayer continues by calling upon the name of God “who created the sea, and all lakes and waters, in the second day, which are above the heavens and in the earth, and sealed the sea in his high name, and gave it its bounds beyond which it cannot pass”.
  • Invocation of Gabriel: The operator invokes Gabriel, the chief ruler of Monday, by the names of the angels who serve Orphaniel (a great, precious, and honoured angel), and by the name of his star, which is Luna (the Moon). The goal is that Gabriel should “labour for me, and fulfil all my petitions according to my will and desire in my cause and business”.

A separate invocation for the angelic genii emphasizes the moon’s position as the “Grand Luminary of the Night”:

  • Invocation for Genii: “Haste ye Sublime and Intelligent Genii who are obedient to the Sovereign Arcana, come and assist me in the operation that I undertake under the auspices of the Grand Luminary of the Night. I invoke you to this end and implore you to be favourable and hear my entreaties in the Name of Him Who commands the spirits of the Four Quarters of the Universal Mansions: Inhabit, Bileth, Mizabu, Abinzaba“.

The principles of Monday’s magic are fluid and centered on change, akin to the tide, guiding motion and revealing hidden secrets while connecting with the moon’s reflective silver light.
