Tarot cards can be rather intimidating, daunting. Even for me and I have over 25 books on tarot cards in my occult collection. Not one of them is perfectly concise. Most of them are rather complex and daunting. After stumbling across a PDF book in my NotebookLM sources, that was not from my collection, called The Book of T, I found it pretty easy to read. But still super complicated.
Like most tarot texts, one would ask, “Why are the descriptions not in sequential order?” Yet, if you open a pamphlet in a fresh deck of Rider Waite cards, everything seems in concise. “Why are the descriptors so different in various books?” Which add the the complication of the tarot.
This unease inspired me to start creating some posts on the Major (Trump cards) and Minor Arcana (Court cards + the rest of the deck), aka Tarot deck. This topic is super complicated yet, in some ways, when drilled down, can be easy.
Personally, all of my tarot readings and posts relate to the Thoth deck, a more advanced deck (and the standard with many tarot practitioners) which can be purchased at any occult bookstore.
For beginners who are just learning the spreads and the tarot card meanings, please use the Raiter Waite can likely be purchased at normal bookstores…and ofcourse on Amazon. This is the deck I learned on. That and playing cards 🙂
Although, I strongly suggest getting comfortable with a basic deck 52 paying cards the Rider Waite decks first. You will see how normal playing cards and the tarot are closely related, how to interpret the different suits and which suit in one deck like the Cups relates to the Water suit in another.

My journey started by watching the movie The Craft (Released May 3, 1996) in the 9th grade whist in Christian private school in Pasadena, California. The film was so popular stores like Hot Topic and Contempo Casuals were carrying everything witchy the possibly could. My first deck was purchased at Contempo at the age of 14. There, I cracked open that tiny pamphlet. It contained the individual card descriptors.
